
Choose the size of the aerated pot according to your plant size. Allow some room for growth.
1. First layer will be the small 1/2 to 3/4 inches gravel, 1 to 2 inches deep depending on the size of your pot.
2. Second layer will be a layer of screen place on top of the gravel.
3. Third, place potting soil over the screen. Some of the soil will slip through the mesh, fill the pot to 2 inch from the top.
4. Wash all of the soil off of the roots of your plant. Prepare a gallon of Melafix in a bucket. 1/2 tsp. per gallon will do. The will get rid of any unwanted parasites let set for 30 minutes. Rinse the Melafix off of the roots with clear water. Prepare another bucket of water and add 1 TBS of root stimulator, let set for 10 minutes.
5. Fifth, will be another layer of screen, cut a hole in the screen, big enough for the roots.
6. Place the plant roots in the hole of the top layer of screen, potting soil gently spread the roots through out the potting soil.
7. Rinse enough 1/2 to 3/4-inch gravel to cover the top of the screen. Top the container off with the rocks and sink the container in a bucket of clear water, until and the air stops bubbling. The put it in you pond to the desired depth of the plant. The reason for the gravel is to keep the soil and plant in the container. It will also keep your fish from playing in the soil.
Never, Never use plant food spikes in you pond.
If you feel the need to fertilize your plants during the growing seasons. Mix up water based plant food put it in a container large enough to hole the plant you want to feed. Remove the plant from the pond and place it in the container and soak over night. Rinse off the plant and return back to the pond.
